Hells Angels Tell Tax Man 'Shove It'

MONTREAL - The Hells Angels has refused to pay taxes to the town of Trois-Rivières after police seized their bunker in a major anti-gang bust in 2009, according to a media report.

"The bunker is now off-limits to the gang, which must still pick up the tab for the property upkeep and municipal taxes," the report said.

The motorcycle gang owes $12,000 in municipal taxes for 2009, and has yet to make a tax contribution for 2010, authorities report.

The Hells Angeles also owe $6,000 in surveillance and maintenance charges on their property, which was seized during Project SharQc, authorities said.

Culminating in the arrests of 123 people, Operation SharQc involved a full-patch member of the gang turning informant.

"According to two sources familiar with the investigation, Sylvain Boulanger, an ex-sergeant-at-arms in the gang’s Sherbrooke chapter, supplied investigators with information about an important vote the gang’s Quebec membership held in July 1994," the report said.

Hells Angels across Quebec essentially voted in favour of engaging in a bloody turf war – with rival gangs like the Rock Machine and Dark Circle – that ran from 1994 to 2002 and involved the deaths of more than 160 people, including several innocent victims.

"In past investigations, the Regional Integrated Squads that investigate biker gangs could rely only on underlings lfor inside information. Having an actual full-patch member supply information about the gang’s operation has not been seen in decades," the article went on to say.
